Swim
Comments: I got nervous for about 30 seconds as this super buff dude was behind me for the swim and I was thinking that maybe I had overestimated my swim time and would be holding people up in the pool. Turns out the super buff dude never came close to me, didn't seem like swimming was his sport. This pool swim was only my second ever pool swim out of 5 tris and was definitely much better than my first. I felt great in the water. I got into a rhythm immediately after jumping in the pool and felt strong the whole way. Maybe if I hadn't have stopped briefly to shout out to my dad who was on the sidelines, I could have even broken into the one minute per 100 yard category! Overall the swim felt great and I wasn't passed at all. I did pass one guy who definitely overestimated his swim time as he was being passed by many folks. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: I still have lots of work to do to speed up my transition times. What would you do differently?: get into bike shoes quicker Bike
Comments: I enjoyed the bike. This is my strongest event. I would like to work on averaging in the 18's on this course. I was surprised that I averaged almost 19 on the oly 2 weeks ago and only 17.4 on this ride, I guess hills really do make a big difference. What would you do differently?: train more on hills so I don't lose as much speed. I would also remember to reset my bike computer so that I could track my average speed and distance, as I mentioned earlier, I wasn't too focused for this race. Transition 2
Comments: This transtion was faster, but not by much. Run
Comments: This is usually my worst event and I was REALLY pleased to break 30 min. What would you do differently?: I want to get faster, but was very pleased with my pace considering my training runs. Post race
Warm down: Hung out with Doug and the kids and went to cheer on Yoblondie and my dad. My trainer was also racing and so I visited with her for a bit as well Event comments: The race was very well organized, even if Jack can be a bit anal about a few things. Last updated: 2007-04-25 12:00 AM

Yoblondie picked me up at about 5:45. I hadn't slept that great the night before and it seems like we have so many things going on at the house right now with getting a new patio and all the workmen at our house that I was really NOT very focused on the race. I think I also was feeling like it was a bit of a last minute decision to do this race and only 2 weeks after my oly, so I didn't really stress over it or think too much about it. I was also very focused on the fact that I had talked my dad into doing the race and he is 76 and had never done a triathlon before. I was worrying about him and didn't think about my own performance.
I tried to run around a bit, but ran out of time since they had a pre race meeting and I was busy chatting with my dad and Angela.
