Run
Comments: Again foiled by hills, but generally a fast run for me so I can't complain. What would you do differently?: Brought along water because I was thirsty right away and I haven't mastered the whole cup of water thing. Transition 1
Comments: A little too slow apparently, but getting on the bike went great. What would you do differently?: Hustle quicker to my spot, practice getting into the shoes better. Have my nutrition already ON the bike. Bike
Comments: I thought the bike went great. At the start, the RD said it was 14 miles. But the results says 13 at the top but using the MPH on results it works out to 13.5 so I'm going with that. So, who knows. I passed MANY people and felt strong. I love my bike and especially my new aerobottle. What would you do differently?: Get bike computer setup so I had a clue about what I was doing. I have a new one, but we couldn't get the sensor to read. Basically it was just a clock. Transition 2
Comments: Considering my family was standing right by transition to distract me, this went pretty well. Run
Comments: Brought water this time, which was wise. This was tough for me and I cannot believe the time, although I'm pretty sure the course was short of 3 miles. Anyway, glad I managed to jog the whole way which was my goal. What would you do differently?: Figure out a way to conserve more energy for the second run. Although I guess it was on par, just slightly slower than the first run which is expected. Post race
Warm down: Stretched out my legs a bit and tried to keep moving until I cooled down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough of the right kind of training, no bricks, etc. Event comments: I liked the course, but the organization was bit casual. Definitely didn't start on time, although they kept on schedule once they did start. My one wish is they had done a better job of signage through the preserve about the race. Others drove through with boats, etc, and didn't even know they would run across about 400 people trying to run and bike their way through quickly on the narrow roads. Toast and PB, Starbuck's doubleshot light in a can. Missed my banana unfortunately. Drove out to site early to get a decent spot on the rack. The race was in the far back of a reserve, so I wondered if I was going the right way.
Try to jog a bit, but then the start was late and the whole thing was pointless. Warmed up on the first run.
