Pre-race routine:

Up, ate, did clothes and dishes. Got myself ready to go. The twins slept at Ma and Pa's so I didn't have to worry about them.
Event warmup:

Decided to ride my bike with Dylan for a couple of miles. Went see the pool and walked around a little while.
Swim
  • 04m 2s
  • 164 yards
  • 02m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Slow and steady, not pretty at times, but I didn't touch the bottom-which is my ultimate goal right now-until I got to the wall for the turns.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more before I Tri......
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Ran to transition, pretty good times, but I didn't have my watch on. BEAR put YANKZ on my shoes, last week. This was great and FAST!!!
What would you do differently?:

Wear my watch.
Bike
  • 38m 42s
  • 10 miles
  • 15.50 mile/hr
Comments:

I forgot to clear out my speedometer when Dylan and I went warm up. I was going 18-20 on the way out. The slow up slope coming in and the head wind slowed me down. I did pass a plenty. Always a good sign for me. I encouraged all who I passed. Some man at Mile 8 said "Thank You, I really needed to hear that!". He was struggling along.
What would you do differently?:

Reset my speedometer.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Easy transition.
Run
  • 24m 26s
  • 2 miles
  • 12m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

BEAR cheered me on when I was leaving transition. Dlyan was with a small group running back when I was walking. I didn't see him with the group. I did call out encouragement to the group, I saw another TRI CAJUN running with him-but I didn't see him. Ran a little, walked a lot. Encouraged many others along the route.
Post race
Warm down:

Went to meet BEAR and Dylan. Took pictures with the CAJUN TRI CLUB group. We had a nice turn out. Many of us went home with Hardware. Ate a little food and passed the rest on to BEAR. Visited with friends. Went cheer on the last runners/walkers.

Event comments:

It was so cool to do a Tri with BEAR and Dylan (Son of the bear). Dylan acted all cool but I think he had fun. He told me afterwards that I could get his third shawdow box so that he could put his Mardi Gras Half and this medal and bibs up in his room. He has 2 others up with half marathon medals.

I was shocked and very excited to get Second Place!!! Of course it was only Annette and I in our age group. There are usually 4 of us and I end up being 4th. The medal is so cool. I was more excited about getting this medal than any I have ever gotten. :):):) TRI's are a lot harder for me than other events that I participate in because my swimming is not up to par yet. It's time for summer, so I can start swimming more.
