![]() Swim
Comments: I started out at the back and within about 50m has veered off course, the first half of the race I did a combo of breast stroke and crawl. Didn't really sight well at all and the water was disgusting. At one point I wondered what on earth I was thinking- I could be home drinking coffee and reading the paper :) I felt at times like I was hardly moving forward. It was just as hard as I thought it would be! ![]() Transition 1
Comments: I think this might have been more than a minute- got wetsuit off successfully, got my shoes on (Noted that all the smart people had brought water to rinse off their feet) and ran up the beach area to the run start. ![]() Run
Comments: I had an OK run. Heart rate was high coming out of the water. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Talked with my BT friends and then headed home for a shower (decontamination) before my kids baseball games. What limited your ability to perform faster: I am not a good pool swimmer yet, therefore I am not a good lake swimmer ;) Event comments: This was a fun race. I learned a lot and while the swim wasn't as bad as my worst fears, it was still hard and I know when I go back there in 2 weeks to do tri for the cure, it will still be hard but at least I know what to expect. Drove over to Tempe with a small detour(forgot the 10 was closed). Signed up at the race and tried not to panic.
Saw Tom and Brian- having friends there was helpful.
