Swim
Comments: started off at the front/middle, got caught up in a bit of traffic on the way to the first buoy, several people tried to swim up my back which ticked me off, after rounding the first buoy things got better, it was a bit choppy, but that just made for a fun swim, current made for a fast swim, stopped once to fix foggy goggles What would you do differently?: kick more so people don't swim up my back Transition 1
Comments: ~150m run from swim exit to transition, I could have moved faster, a bit of trouble getting my wetsuit off one heel, I left pretty much with all the ladies I came out of the water with What would you do differently?: move faster into transition area, learn to get my wetsuit off quicker Bike
Comments: felt really good on the bike, only got passed by a few guys (on relay teams I think) and one or two girls, I passed about 8 people right on the final downhill into town, one of my best bike segments in a tri What would you do differently?: push harder, not run out of fluids right near the end of the bike Transition 2
Comments: almost lost my balance trying to get my running shoes on, otherwise I was farily efficient What would you do differently?: stay on my feet :) Run
Comments: as soon as I started the run I knew it wasn't going to be good, I had trouble getting my HR down, never got into any kind of running groove, ended up taking a bunch of short walk breaks and walking up the better part of both hills, I wanted to push but my body said no, everyone I passed on the bike at the end passed me back on the run What would you do differently?: run faster :) Post race
Warm down: hung out, chatted with friends and teammates, not too much post race food but I wasn't really hungry What limited your ability to perform faster: 1st tri of the year, have been focused on improving my bike, running has suffered, overall this was my best ever sprint, by far the fastest bike split I have ever had, can't complain too much Event comments: I really enjoyed this race. Lots of local people racing and cheering and a very nice setting for the race. If timing works out I will do this race next year Last updated: 2007-04-29 12:00 AM

set up transition, talked to various people, did a 5' swim warm up just before the race started
