Sunny
Total Time = 1h 35m 12s
Overall Rank = 291/353
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 14/25
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:10. Had a cup of coffee and a bagel with peanut butter and jelly. Looked outside - it was raining and I had put my bike on the car last night. Left the house at about 4:55.
Event warmup:

Racked my bike. Got an excellent location the first rack before the bike mount.
Swim
  • 05m 45s
  • 250 meters
  • 02m 18s / 100 meters
Comments:

This was an outdoor pool snake swim. I seeded myself a bit too far back. I passed 3 swimmers and could have gone faster if I had been further up. I was happy with my swim.
What would you do differently?:

I'm not sure if I put in a too slow time or others put in too fast.
Transition 1
  • 02m 59s
Comments:

It was really cold when I hit the air after the swim. I put on a long sleeve tshirt for the bike. Also I went without socks on bike for the first time in a race. Grabbed two shot blocks.
What would you do differently?:

Could have been faster but I was so cold.
Bike
  • 49m 26s
  • 12 miles
  • 14.57 mile/hr
Comments:

I was really slow on the bike. I used aerobars for the first time and that went well. I felt strong the entire time. I drank a small bike bottle of Gatorade on the bike course.
What would you do differently?:

I got passed by a lot of people, so I just need to get my butt moving.
Transition 2
  • 02m 57s
Comments:

Had a little trouble racking my bike. The slots were narrow and I couldn't get my bike to stand properly. Put my socks on in T2 and my feet were very happy about that. Grabbed 2 shot blocks.
What would you do differently?:

May be I should have but my rear wheel in like I racked in the beginning, but i would have had to swing my bike around. I think it was just bad luck with the rack.
Run
  • 34m 4s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 10m 57s  min/mile
Comments:

My feet were so cold getting off the bike I could not even feel them as I ran. I took more than two miles for me to feel my feet. I got passed alot in the run.
What would you do differently?:

Once again I just have to move my butt.
Post race
Warm down:

Nice finishers medal at the end.
Grabbed a bagel.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm just slow.

Event comments:

The race was very well organized. It was cold and windy which made standing in line on the pool deck a drag, but a good event.
