Run
Comments: I knew I didn't have as many long runs leading up so I thought beating last years time was a stretch but 1:45 was the goal. It was also 15 degrees hotter than last year and very humid. Definetely a long race from the start with the heat... took liquids at every stop. A GU at mile 2.5 (felt I needed it) and 6 or so. Stomach was not happy every time I drank but forced it down. A bit past mile 8 I was talking with someone who had a watch and said we were at a bit over an hour... had some delusions about beating last year and kicked it up. Mistake! Miles 10 - 13 were pretty bad (esp. a hill at mile 11) - "the voice" was as loud as I've heard it (please stop and walk) but I kept running. At Mile 10 my time was 1:17 so knew 1:37 (last years time) was out... 1:45 was in. Probably should have done another GU or more water earlier but the heat/humidity really starting grinding. Overall I did rank a bit higher than last year with more people so it was tough for everyone and I met my 1:45 goal. Felt like I left it all out on the course. What would you do differently?: More long runs leading up. Post race
Warm down: 3 popsicles, fruit and a banana, walked around ND stadium. Event comments: Volunteers are awesome... drink stations always ready and race is very well organized. The finish (at 50 yard line) is a blast. This is an every year race for me. Last updated: 2007-05-01 12:00 AM

Slept in a bit... race didn't start until 7:30. Nice bowl of cereal and some GU2O (not together). Got there in time to hit the washroom and see the 5k start at 7:15 and by then it's time to go.
A little stretching
