Swim
Comments: I got in the back of the pack and off to the side and started very slow so that I did not need to be pulled out of the water before the end of the swim. My wetsuit or team jersey started REALLY chaffing about half way through. I felt very good about my tracking the bouys although they were only 100m apart. All my hard work swimming and a wetsuit paid off. I NEVER expected to swim that fast considering where I was when I started last year. What would you do differently?: I may go a little faster as I get more comfortable in the water. I never got tired. My main fear, other than drowning of course, is being away from shore in deep, dark water and hyperventilating from swimming too hard. Transition 1
Comments: I had spray on sunscreen for the t1 because of the anitbiotics. I REEEEALLY stung when I sparayed it on my chaffed under arms. WOW! That woke me up! What would you do differently?: Run in, move faster, run out Bike
Comments: I felt way too comfortable on the bike. I was averaging in the high 19 mphs, but decided to slow down because my HR was at 160 although I felt really good. I was afraid that I would not be able to run if I went too fast. What would you do differently?: I would push harder on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: I do not know why this transition was so slow. I must have taken a short nap. What would you do differently?: I do not know. I must have been napping. Run
Comments: I did not expect to run fast. My goal was to not walk except at water stations. I took a porta potty break behind two women which was a little over 4 minutes. This was only the second time that I have run 6 miles in the last 15 years. What would you do differently?: Not much. I would check the course out. If I had I would have known that there were more porta potties along the way and I would not have waited in line. I did not really get to train for the run because I needed to concentrate on swimming after missing so much time with my collarbone. Not drowning is more important to me than running fast. ;) Post race
Warm down: walked around a bit. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training of course...however I did take three months off with my broken collarbone and did not really start back until March 8th so I needed to concentrate on swimming. Event comments: I had a great time hanging out with everyone and checking out St. Petersburg. I wish that I could have stayed longer. Last updated: 2007-05-01 12:00 AM

stayed in bed as late a possible, grabbed a bannana and apple and rushed to the transisition area. Probably drank way to much fluid either the night before or that morning. I took my antibiotic that said drink plenty of water when you take it. Put lots of sunscreen lotion on because antibiotic said limit sun exposure.
I did not really warm up unless you count the walk from the Transition area to the start. I think that counts. :)
