Swim
Comments: The level of competition was better in this race so my estimation of going outside of everyone was not right. I swam too wide and should have stayed right on course. I was swimming in the "outside lane" on all the bouys. Stayed really relaxed didn't max out in the first 200m just swam. No big deal. Felt good getting out of the water. Need to train Zone 4 on the swim. What would you do differently?: Swim bouy to bouy. Work a "little" faster. Arm turnover. I was well below threshold and probably could have worked harder. Transition 1
Comments: Good T1 with the exception of forgeting to start taking off the wetsuit as I approached the bike. The 200 meter run from the lake to the Transition area distracted me from getting it off. Running thru the little boxes of water to get the sand off. Sand off is good. Everything else went smooth. What would you do differently?: Wetsuit off earlier and make sure that the sand is off. the Blisters I incurred still hurt 5 days post race Bike
Comments: Lots of fun. Thompson hill was nuts! 160 degree turn right before a massive hill that lasted for 1.5 miles. I started the hill at maybe 8 mph and it kept getting slower and slower. The climb at mile 21-23 was the most hard. For some reason I was soooo tired that I couldn't even stand up. I burnt the matches for sure. Great experience for a guy who trains with out hills in Va Beach. What would you do differently?: Train hills.... I guess. Transition 2
Comments: Rough getting the shoes on. Long roll to the dismount area. What would you do differently?: Lube the shoes! Run
Comments: Felt fine. No problems with the ITB so I let it loose. Best part was passing Bobby on the out and back and giving him a shout out "Be strong in Lord" and hooking up with a brother who was a Boston Marathon finisher and he took me through a sub 6 min mile 5 al biet down hill. I definately left it all on the course. What would you do differently?: Try to get closer to the guy who beat me 44 sec. Mentally keep racing maybe if I saw him I could have pressed it and raced it. Oh yeah, I should have worn socks. Trail running without socks is flat out dumb! Post race
Warm down: Horrible. Did nothing other than get some drink and food What limited your ability to perform faster: Concern of ITB problems. Event comments: I like HFP racing I'm signed up for the GREAT BUCKEYE CHALLENGE Last updated: 2007-05-02 12:00 AM

Woke up from tent sleep. Not too bad. Driving for 8 hours makes it easier to sleep
Ran 10 mins at zone 1 with 3-4 strides and rode 10 minutes to check everything out and get the gearing right. Practiced a couple transitions with the speedplays
