Run
Comments: Good start - 2 mile loop with a little up and down. Transition 1
Comments: Found the bike quickly and everything was laid out and hadn't moved...bike rack was pretty crowded. What would you do differently?: My strap on my shoe got stuck when trying to pull it closed....I need to make sure it isn't locked open, too hard to close. Bike
Comments: Great course, very challenging. The first bike was a little crowded, trying to stay right with 3 - 5 bikes in front going at a slower pace is tough. Everyone was jockeying for position. Great control of the intersections by Edmond police. What would you do differently?: Need to develop a little more confidence in my judgment to pass. Sometimes I wonder if I am gonna pass only to be passed in a mile or so by the same person. Usually after I pace someone for awhile, make the pass and look back, 90% of the time it was a good decision, not sure if I should pace or just go for it initially. Transition 2
Comments: Rack was much better coming in...one bike there. What would you do differently?: Made a good transition, just work on overall speed. Run
Comments: A little warmer this time around. Felt pretty good on this run also, anticipated some cramping, but nothing showed up....good. Took water at the station. A little slower pace than the first run. Transition 3
Comments: Back to the bike, switched out water bottles and grabbed the bike. Everything worked fine. Just need to work on speed somemore. I don't have a flying mount, that could trim some time. Bike
Comments: Took advantage of the big downhills on the way out and pushed hard on the way back in. Again, stood in the saddle for some of the big hills. With the disk on the back wheel, a motorcycle with the marshall went by, opposite direction and the air from the vehicle really caught my disk...somewhat unstable. What would you do differently?: Incorporate more hill work into my training plan. Transition 4
Comments: Made a quick trip through transition, carried my water bottle from the bike with me....thinking I might need more than the 1 cup of water on course. With a mile to go, my legs felt very heavy, no cramping, just very tired, could have been a nuitrition problem. Will have to work on that. Run
Comments: With a mile to go, my legs felt very heavy, no cramping, just very tired, could have been a nutrition problem. Will have to work on that. What would you do differently?: Work on my endurance, need to get the same endurance I have on the bike on the run, it seems to be my weakest area and a place I can trim some time on my overall finish. Post race
Warm down: Water, banana, stretch....watched for friends finishing. Great after race cookies and beverage. Event comments: This was my first F1 duathlon. Very tough, physically and mentally. Knowing you have to repeat the run 3 time and the bike twice worked on me alittle. A fantastic event put on my TRI-OKC, put it on ur calendars for next year. Last updated: 2007-05-02 12:00 AM
