Swim
Comments: There was a dead fish where we waded out to start the swim which was lots of fun and got a couple of jokes from the crowd. It actually helped to ease the tension. What would you do differently?: Wram up in the water and get a trisuit. Transition 1
Comments: Had a hard time getting into my shoes and getting my helmet on even while sitting trying to do it. What would you do differently?: Get a tub of water instead of shooting my feet with a water bottle. Go faster. Bike
Comments: The bike seemed to go pretty well. I passed a good amount of people and had no one from my wave pass me that I noticed. The scenery was actually pretty and the wind was only up going past one large field. What would you do differently?: Get a set of aero bars. Holy crap I'm about as aero dynamic as a UPS truck when I am riding the road bike. The 6'5", 260 pounds of me just catches that wind and holds it there. Transition 2
Comments: Had a hard time getting my back into the rack because I am so tall that I actually had to tilt my bike to get the bike hooked and with another bike right next to mine it becomes excessively difficult. I then had a hard time getting my shoes on over my wet socks; I need to get a set of yankz badly. What would you do differently?: Get a set of yankz or something comparable. I also need to work on getting off my bike quickly. Run
Comments: I was really freakin' slow. Hopefully as I lose more weight my time will go down significatly. Overall though I was proud of myself. I had a flying sprint for the last hundred or hundred and fifty yards and actually flew right past a guy who was still running about fifty yards ahead of me. It was really cool to actually get ahead of someone. What would you do differently?: Lose some weight. Post race
Warm down: Walking around amd some stretching. Perusing the bike shop tent. What limited your ability to perform faster: I was sick as crap for the entire race, that had to have had at least a bit of an affect. Event comments: It is a fun race that is well organized. The organizers really want people of all abilities to participate and the community is very supportive of all those that come out. I will definitely do this race again. Woke up feeling sick as hell. Didn't even know if I wanted to do the tri in the car on the way there but decided that I might as well try, that whole DFL>DNF>DNS thing. I did have a gel before the swim start though.
I didn't really warm up at all, I just wanted to save all the energy that I could with the way that I was feeling.
