Run
Comments: Nice size little run, considering the Flying Pig is tomorrow, and they're doing some 5k's and 10ks for that today as well. We all started out fast, but I REALLY REALLY tried not to rabbit out. There were a couple of college runners there from NKU, so I knew who the winner was already going to be. At the first mile, my split said 5:44. Perhaps the course is not correct, because I really don't think I can do that. I'm going to have to go to a track and see what I can do a mile in again. Anyhow, at mile 1 I was in 6th place, with 2 kids in front of me...THEY were who I had to track down and kill. Just before 1 1/2, I passed the first one. Felt good. Legs felt strong, just my lungs pushing hard. Made the turn and started back. 1 3/4 I came up on kid #2 and eased past him. The other 3 guys in front of me where so far ahead, I had no hope of catching them. Just before mile 3, I put on some extra speed, just in case kid #2 got any bright ideas to pass me in the end....I finished strong and felt good. Ye ha! What would you do differently?: Nuttin. Post race
Warm down: Walk around, spit water on pavement, sweat, drink. What limited your ability to perform faster: Gravity, air resistance, my parents smoking around me when I was young, to many cheeseburgers as a teenager, communism, solar flares, underwear wedgie. Event comments: Just need to give out the awards as people cross the line...They waited soooooo long and drug it out soooooooooo long, I had to leave to get to Pig Expo and work...oh well. I don't have a "routine", since every race is different. Today, I actually did what I was probably supposed to. The race is in a sleepy little historic town that is in one of those states that you're not sure if it's making a comeback, or going down the tubes. We arrived about 1/2 an hour early. I walked around a bit, jogged a bit, stretched, and jogged again.
