Stawberry Fields Triathlon
65F / 18C
Overcast
Total Time = 1h 21m 18s
Overall Rank = 243/537
Age Group = MClydes
Age Group Rank = 17/37
Pre-race routine:

Nothing special, had a blueberry muffin and some strawberries in the morning, and gave myself two-hours to digest before start-up
Event warmup:

Lost my cap on the farside, but didn't lose googles this year
Swim
  • 16m 24s
  • 402 meters
  • 04m 05s / 100 meters
What would you do differently?:

Draft a little more, and run all the way through to transition. It is tough run from water to transition, up a sand hill. Got out of water at 14:30, but took 2 minutes with wetsuit on to get to transition.
Transition 1
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

Not bad in terms of form, but that sand run zapped me. Took a little while getting through it.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on transitioning when tired. Your mind starts to struggle, so I need to work on transition at a E4 HR.
Bike
  • 35m 10s
  • 11.5 miles
  • 19.62 mile/hr
Comments:

Lost my water bottle near the 10 mile mark, so was left a little dehydrated. I was getting passed early, but I kept my strategy and sped up the final 6 miles and passed most of the people that passed me. ENDURANCE BABY.
What would you do differently?:

Try and pump even harder, but that will come with more hill training
Transition 2
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

Slow time, I was putting on my belt in transition??? And my shoes weren't slipping on because my feet were still damp.
What would you do differently?:

Loosen up my shoes so I can slip in even with wet feet. Run without soick more than a week before, tearing up my heels on Tuesday because my shoes weren't good for sockless hurt. I cut out the heel so I was fine for the race, but worrying about the bandaids cost me a little time.
Run
  • 26m 36s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Not the best run, but I happy with the overall time. I need to work on the this for WF. Speed is the key to success and faster times. If I can get it around 7:30-45 I will be dancing in the streets.
What would you do differently?:

More water on the ride
Post race
Warm down:

Walked it out and had lunch

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training and my weight

Event comments:

This is second annual Strawberryfields Triathlon. And it is better than last year. But I do have one complaint. Many of the volunteers in the remotes locations had some sort of ailment (crunches, wheel chair, etc.) A guy in front of my went down on the ride and she couldn't do anything to help him out. He was ok, but jsut scary.
