Swim
Comments: Uh. The way they do the waves is by your swim time. This actually ends up sucking because everyone stays together and you can't get away! So I was constantly trying to find my space and not get kicked or run into someone and it was just a big mess out there. It threw me off a bit and I struggled with my breathing a bit. But I heard a tip to start kicking your legs on the last stretch so that you aren't dizzy coming out of the water and it worked great! And, needless to say, I got to the shore much quicker ;) What would you do differently?: Try to find a better line. Or go with the SUPER slow or the SUPER fast next time so I have the lake to myself! Transition 1
Comments: There was kind of a long run up to T1 and so this time reflects that. Other than that I didn't waste any time! What would you do differently?: Run up the hill faster Bike
Comments: YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! THIS WAS SO MUCH FUUUUUUN!!!! DAMN I had a big'ol smile on my face during the bike. I got passed by lots of guys in fancy speedos (with interesting tanlines) riding fancy bikes but that didn't bother me all that much. I cared more if any chicks made a move and it didn't happen until the very last stretch, but I kept her close! I just felt so STRONG out there that it almost seemed effortless. At no point did my legs feel like they were on fire or as though they couldn't turn it over - I was just so jazzed to be feeling great! What would you do differently?: Absolutely nothing :) Transition 2
Comments: Well this time I racked my bike in the right place, LOL. Then I didn't mess around - I did my business and took off! What would you do differently?: Nothing! Run
Comments: I was a little nervous about the run. I know I hit it hard on the bike and so wasn't sure if I'd make my goal of under 24, but I just tried to focus on a high turnover and remaining steady. DAMN people fly by me but I tried to not let that discourage me. One thing I wanted to be able to do was start my sprint earlier than normal but since I was going pretty hard my "sprint" wasn't much different than what I was already doing ~ and I actually felt like I might run out of gas so I had better hurry up and cross that finish line!! SO I DID and with 20 seconds to spare!!! What would you do differently?: Not sure other than work on getting faster ~ Post race
Warm down: Did a little victory dance, met up with my parents, pup and mtnlove (Amy) to hang out, drink beer and try to win prizes :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Not a whole heck of a lot - I gave it just about my ALL out there and I'm REALLY STOKED!!!!! Event comments: I really like this event and I will likely do it every year. It attracts some seriously competitive people, the prizes are cool and they had good beer to enjoy at 9:30 in the morning, LOL :) Last updated: 2007-05-08 12:00 AM

One thing I hate about having to drive over an hour to a race is that I have to wake up at the CRACK! So - the alarm goes off at 4am which was WAAAAY to early and I don't know what I was thinking giving myself an hour to get ready. That's so not like me so I just kinda hung out doing nothing because everything was ready to go. The pup was all crazy and excited and wondering what in the heck we were doing up so early and "please please please please take me!" was written all over him :) Ate my oatmeal, drank my coffee and hit the road!
Found a place to rack my bike (which happened to be RIGHT next to mtnlove (Amy) which was really funny! We were going to meet up somehow so it was helpful that I unknowingly walk right up to her!) Went to pee (for the 13th time), ran half a mile and swam about 50meters.
