Swim
Comments: The water temp was around 80-82 so no need for a wet suit but I decided to go with my short sleeve wet suit just to help me out as I am a bad swimmer. Well I actually had some hard time to just breath with my wet suit on and the first loop of the swim was just terrible. The wave that started 3mn behind caught up with me in the 2nd loop. I managed to relax and find a good rhythm in the 2nd half of the 2nd loop but that was too late anyway. I finished my swim with a pretty lame time (over 32mn as opposed to the 28mn I had in mind that I usually do in pool). Kevin passed me as I was heading out of the swim. That was nice to see him so strong and always having something nice/fun to say. What would you do differently?: no wear wet suit Transition 1
Comments: 7/28 AG Bike
Comments: The bike was quite challenging because of many hills. I managed to keep a decent pace and I passed several people that had swimmed quicker than me. Shawn passed me towards the end of the bike and he was strong. That was actually a good thing to motivate me and I kept him in sight thinking about the run to come What would you do differently?: work more on my bike (put more miles during trainings) Transition 2
Comments: 6/28 AG Run
Comments: The run was also hilly with 2 loops. Damn so many loops on this race! :) As I was heading out of the transition area I saw both my kids trying to get a high 5 with me which they got. That was a great motivation. The start was of the course was easy as it was downhill but coming back up hill was tough. Anyway, I had Shawn in view and that was a funny objective for me to complete. I passed him in the 2nd loop and I tried to keep a decent pace. I finished with a good sprint. But I am not happy with my time. Anyway I did not have really anything left as I finished the race so I gave it all. Post race
Event comments: Overall, I really enjoyed the race. I will probably come back next year and hopefully I will be better prepared. The key thing to work on this winter will be my swim. Last updated: 2007-05-09 12:00 AM

This was my 2nd Olympic distance Tri. I enjoyed it a lot.
The scenery was just beautiful and the weather was perfect.
Some nice little red birds were singing as the warm sunny shine was rising..... euh all right, back to the race report
So I headed out to Luray the night before with wife&kids. Traffic was just horrible on the 66 but then it became all right.
I got to see Shawn, Katie and Keith at the race packet pickup. And I finally met David Glover that kindly let me get my package although I did not have my driver license with me. I also met several other RATS the morning of the race. That was very nice seeing so many friendly people.
