Age Group Rank = 8/8
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5:15 a.m., ate 100% WW english muffin w/ peanut butter and a banana.
Event warmup:

No real warm up, got in the lake and did a lap to test wetsuit and water temp. Felt much more relaxed from doing this.
Swim
  • 20m 12s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

First triathlon ever, not the best swim in world, but I finished! My goal was 25 min, and beat that goal by a good 5 min! I forgot to put my googles down over my eyes, but turned over and fixed them. I swtiched between freestyle, side stroke, backstroke and even threw in a little doggie paddling for good measure. :)
What would you do differently?:

Try to relax a little more, definitely need to continue to work on swimming.
Transition 1
  • 06m 14s
Comments:

Long path from water to TA area, walked up it, recovering from swim.
What would you do differently?:

Run from water to TA
Bike
  • 58m 59s
  • 14 miles
  • 14.24 mile/hr
Comments:

Finished the bike in under an hour! I was very happy with that. Goal was 1 hr 5 min. My bike chain came completely off my bike at mile 10, so I had to stop, get off my bike and fix it. I had never fixed a bike chain before, but I definitely wasn't about to quit....
What would you do differently?:

Try not to switch gears so much, take a bike maintenance clinic.
Transition 2
  • 02m 21s
Comments:

Good transition for me. Legs a little shaky from the ride, so nice little recovery before the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 38m 36s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 25s  min/mile
Comments:

Ok, so definitely not the best 5k time, but I had actually planned on a 45 minutes 5k, so again, passed my goals. Walked a good portion of the run, but was ok with that. I did fall down (twisted my ankle and fell) and had a great Miame Vice roll on the asphalt, but got back up and continued to run.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure, just more practice.....
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, made some water and gatorade.....good stuff.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Have only been training 6-7 weeks, so just need more training.

Event comments:

This is my first ever triathlon, I wanted to finish in 2 hr 30 min and completely crushed that goal! Even though I came in 5th from last, I came in! Thanks to my husband and all fellow BT'ers for being at the finish line to cheer me across. I had a great time.....
