Swim
Comments: For this swim I wanted to try to stay calm and be in the pack instead of swimming alone. I even got in and drafted a little. I was able to sight breathe instead of stopping and treading water, I was able to stay comfortable the whole way through. In hindsighht (which is always 20/20) I think that I could have pushed harder, but we'll save that for another race. What would you do differently?: Push harder. Transition 1
Comments: I had a great transition, the fastest in my age group and 15th overall. I ran up the beach passing people (this is how I know I could have pushed harder on the swim). Almost ran past my bike but cought myself just two steps too far. Race belt went on, helmet went on and I was out. What would you do differently?: Put my sunglasses on after I get riding. Bike
Comments: I felt great on the bike, but as always wished I could have gone faster. I was passing people up the bridge every time by keeping a high cadence, staying in the aerobars and just going. When I got to the top I wasn't bonked so I was able to pedal on the way down and maxed out around 35mph. I think that I could hold a higher avg speed if it weren't for so many turns and turn arounds (5). Transition 2
Comments: Another great transition, the fastest in my age group and tenth overall. I wish that I did not approach T2 behind a huge group of sprint distance and fat tire athletes because I had to dodge them and slow down. I did a great job of coasting out of the shoes and over the side of the bike with a quick jump off and instantly running. Bike went straight on the rack, running shoes went one quickly grabbed a gel and was off. What would you do differently?: ??? Run
Comments: This is where I really need to focus on getting faster. If I could improve by one mile a minute I would be really, really happy. I got a little cramp on both laps in the same spot (Boardwalk). It was a breathing cramp and I couldn't seem to get it out until I got to the parking lot and then it went away but came back in the same spot on the second loop and again went away in the same spot. My last mile was really strong which means that I didn't push hard enough earlier. I got a little blister on my right foot but I was expecting it. I need to work on drink while running so that it goes down my throat and not up my nose. Post race
Warm down: I guess I should start doing this. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think that mentally I need to reallize that for this distance there is no such thing as pace, just push till you are going to puke and hang on for the ride. Event comments: There were no water bottles available after the race. Last updated: 2007-05-09 12:00 AM

I tried to get to the event early enough to have some time to set up and warm up but after starting to set up my transition area and my front tire blew a flat. I real quick changed it but it wasted enought time that I didn't have enough time to spare and go to the bathroom and warm up.
Because of the flat my only warm up was getting to the swim start a little early and doing a real short swim, well that and the jogn down to the start area.
