Swim
Comments: Didn't get kicked but swam over a couple of people, my sighting was terrible. Swallowed a little water and had to choke a couple times but overall not bad. What would you do differently?: Go a little harder. Transition 1
Comments: Probably won't be jumping on the bike anymore, not worth the risk of crushing a certain body part and it's really no all that faster. When/if I start finishing near the top and need to shave seconds, I'll reconsider. What would you do differently?: Not take my bike out for a warm up ride for non-assigned transition events. Bike
Comments: I took a gel right before getting on the bike and it kind of upset my stomach for a while. I got passed by a few guys, but for the most part I held my own and really tired to push hard. Took a gel a few miles before the bike finish. What would you do differently?: Probably need to get aerobars. And do more long steep hill work. Should have let my stomach recover from the swim (swallowing lake water) before taking the gel. Transition 2
Comments: Really good transition. DO NOT DO ANYTHING NEW NOTICE: I saw the guy ahead of me on the bike un straping his shoes and pedalling with his feet on top of his shoes, so I thought, what the hell I'll give it a shot except I'll keep my feet in my shoes. So when I go to jump off I come out of my right shoe without a hitch but I unclip my left. I have one shoe and one shoe off trying to run and keep the one on, so I just do the ole shoe kick about 30yrds toward my transition area, pick it up and rack my bike. Probably didn't lose any time over the ordeal and it was fun. What would you do differently?: I liked the unstrapping instead of unclipping, this will be incorporated into future tri/duals. Again, not having my transition area next to my bike rack was kind of a pain. Run
Comments: Pretty good run and I think we got lucky there was a breeze and was not too hot that aearly in the AM. Could have been a tough run on a hot day with the humidity, as the trail is well protected from the wind. I must have been disoriented because I missed the turn to the finish, not really bad, just got off course a little. Luckily there were dozens of people shouting at me I was going the wrong way and got me back on track. What would you do differently?: Need to pick up the pace sooner. Going out I had some stomach pains, not sure if it was a lack of nutrition or water or what, but by the time I turned around it was much better. Post race
Warm down: Walked around, banana and gatorade. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not much, just need more experience and training. Event comments: Very well run race with plenty of post race snacks. Also got a nice race packet with a tech t-shirt and water bottle. This is the final triathlon of the year and I'm very pleased with my first season. I have made a lot of progress and stayed injury free (thank you to the Man upstairs for both). Now it's time to get ready for the KC Marathon. Last updated: 2007-05-11 12:00 AM

Awoke at 4:30, packed up, had a bunch of fruit and some waffles w/ syrup.
Went for a 10min run and 10min bike. When I got back to my transition area someone had taken my bike spot so I had to run around looking for a volunteer who recommended I just put my bike against the fence....whatever, it worked out fine, I just learned my lesson.
