Swim
Comments: Had very hard time going from pool to open water, mentally tough not being able to touch bottom. took a lot of water in when trying to breath, and difficult swimming in the right direction. What would you do differently?: need to practice lots in open water and become comfortable with the breathing and navigating in open water. need to become comfortable with the not seeing in lake water. Comments: was out in t1 behind stephen(1:30) but realized I had lost my computer. went back and found it, cost me 40 sec. a little shaky putting on shoes. had water bottle to rinse off feet(good idea stephen) What would you do differently?: put powder on feet or in socks and have shoes already tied. need to work on getting in and out of straps on pedals. need to loosen them when getting out so it will be easy to get in them. Comments: due to poor performance in swim, was out of breath for most of first ride. rode well for most part. What would you do differently?: be in better cardio shape. need to work on getting in and out of pedals better. loosen up pedal straps when getting out so it is easier to get in them. Transition 2
Comments: did well in this area What would you do differently?: Would run more in the transition area. getting off bike needs work as legs are very jello-like. Run
Comments: had been battling I T Band syndrome. Hip spasmed just before getting off bike. calves were knotting up on first run. stopped and stretched them and they did fine after that. had to walk last 1/4 ot 1/2 mile of the first and all of the second run to ITBS. Knees were unbearable. What would you do differently?: get rid of ITBS Post race
Warm down: was cooled down by the time I finished due to walking last part of run. did go see sports doc at tent and he stretched me. What limited your ability to perform faster: ITBS Event comments: did not like the bike, run, bike, run format. Thought I would but didnt and maybe that was due to the ITBS. Drank Lots of water week before, woke up at 5:00 took shower and stretched. had banana, peanut butter smoothie, arrived and set up transition, forgot to take vitamins and anti-inflammatory med.
Rode bike in warm up pants and long sleeve shirt to get warmed up. did some light jogging also. did some stretching but not enough. need to stretch after warming up.
