Pre-race routine:

My first triathlon. Woke up at 5. Only about 4.5 hrs sleep due to getting in late. Ate a bowl of cereal and headed to the site.
Event warmup:

None. Just got my transition area set and talked to a few people that I had met.
Swim
  • 20m 12s
  • 875 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

All my fears of my first tri OWS came true. 5 minutes into the swim took a nice drink of the lake water, or two, and panic set in for the next minute. Completely stopped swimming, focused and ended up finishing mostly with the backstroke.
What would you do differently?:

uhhhhh.......training desperately needed.

Comments:

Average ride. I had hoped for a better average pace, my training rides up to 17 miles was around a 17 mph pace. Did not hydrate well enough on the ride.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.

Comments:

Good run for me. I had hoped for a 9 minute pace.
What would you do differently?:

Push a litttle harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got some food and water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of training for the last two weeks. The Indy mini took alot out of me and affected my last two weeks of training.

Event comments:

Overall I am pleased with my first triathlon. Had a great time. My first goal going in was to finish. Second goal was to finish within three hours. Was hoping to get together and talk with some other BT'ers but never got around to it. Did meet some very interesting and helpful people. Was a great experience.
