Pre-race routine:

Got up at 3:40 to meet KeekT and drove to Ft. Collins. Had a cup of coffee and part of a bagel with peanut butter. Stomach was still cramping up.

Comments:

As usual the swim was a joke. I had submitted 10 mins. for my time but decided to move back with the 12-13 minute people. When I was ready to go the lady said the numbers had to be in order so I had to wait and start last. That really stunk. I passed a couple of people but there were a lot of people bunched up and I couldn't get by them. Most the people around me where swimming every stroke except the freestyle and the last lap there were so many people bunched up that everyone just walked.
What would you do differently?:

I could have started where I was suppose to and would have had a better swim time but probably would have freaked out when lots of people touched me while passing. Even though my time stunk, I was nice and calm and laughing with all the slow swimmers around me who were great sports.

Felt good on the bike. I kept it in the big ring the whole time but kept my cadence high.
What would you do differently?:

I think I could have went a little faster on the bike. I really slowed down for the turns...need to work on cornering.

Sierra (my daughter) was waiting for me in the transition area. That's probably not legal but it was great to see her smiling face.
What would you do differently?:

I forgot my race belt so had to put a shirt on. I also forgot my stretchy shoe laces so had to stop and tie my regular laces.

The markings were horrible. I had no idea where I was until mile 2 (which I heard was off). I didn't have a HR montitor or Garmin so I had no clue how fast I was running except I had a general idea what time I left T2.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I ran by feel and had my best running time yet.

Joined KeekT and my daughter and cheered on a few friends.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My goal was to just finish this race and not worry about the time.

I loved this race. I need to find five more like it this summer. Do I ever want to try an OWS again???
