Swim
Comments: Wow, this was my best OWS EVER. I really need to thank whoever it was that said wearing ear plugs would help with my motion sickness. For the first 100 yards I was really nervous as there was a lot of chop in the water. I was just waiting for the tell tale signs that I was going to start having problems. After 100 yards, I realized that I was fine and was able to relax and concentrate on the swim. The practice I have done with bilateral breathing really helped a lot. I was able to do that the entire swim. The bouys they used were pretty low in the water, and the first bouys were almost impossible to see until about 100 yards before. I was just following the green caps in front of me hoping they were going in the right direction. After that, the others were easy to spot. After rounduing the last bouy, I found set of feet and for the first time EVER, drafted. It was awesome. Getting out of the water, I realized I had been drafting off of Texmom! Thanks for the pull Jill.! What would you do differently?: Relax. Now that I know the earplugs work. Other than that, I had a great swim! Transition 1
Comments: It was a decent run from the swim out to the transition area. Had to dry my hands and feet to get socks and gloves on. Put on my helmet and realized one strap was stuck inside. Roasted a chicken and read a few chapters of Triathlon for Dummies! What would you do differently?: Nothing really. It was not a bad transition, just not the best I have ever had. Bike
Comments: Felt great on the bike. Tried out this small chain ring that I heard so much about. It really does help on the hills! For the most part, I felt great on the bike. I have had a recurring problem with my left IT band. Usually starts around mile 8 lasts for a while and then goes away. I have to get my saddle hight rechecked. Maybe one leg is longer than the other? Funny sighting on the bike. One one of the more potholed roads, they spray painted white circles around any areas to avoid. Well, at one point, a snake must have gotten run over. So there, in the middle of the road, was a very dead snake with a white circle spray painted around it. Pretty funny!! What would you do differently?: I probably could have given more, but I was saving for the run. Overall, I am really happy with this bike. I was 2:10 faster than the same course at Disco! Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. I was very happy with this! What would you do differently?: Learn how to jump off the bike when it is still moving. Run
Comments: I was so happy with this run. I can't believe I was under 12 minutes. The first half of the run is alomost all uphill. I only walked the aid stations. I really felt at then end that I had more to give. What would you do differently?: Just keep running and getting better! I beat my time from Disco by 8 minutes. That's HUGE!!! Post race
Warm down: Searched for some water, stretched and waited with the BT crew for Steve to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: I think I have gotten to the point where physically, I can do better. I have a problem with the mental aspect. I think a lot of times my head tells me I am giving it all I can when my legs feel like they can give more. Must stop listening to the voices in my head! Event comments: I have to hand it to Dallas Athletes. I was feeling really disappointed with their races up to this point, but I think they did a great job with this one. Lots of volunteers. Most of them knew what they were doing...except for the lady going into the TA who wanted to see the bar ends on my tri bike:) I was so proud of Steve who did so great for his first Oly! It was great to met some new BT'ers. Last updated: 2007-05-21 12:00 AM

Up in the middle of the night. 4:00 comes around really fast. I had prepared everything the night before so it was just a matter of putting the bikes on the car. Putting the water bottles in the cooler and heading out. Picked up mom and headed to Sanger.
It was actually pretty chilly before the race. Got there a little later than I should have, but still managed a decent rack space. DA does open raking for all of their races. It was nice for Steve to be able to rack right next to me. Funny, it turned out to be a BT area. Aside from Steve and I, Cliff, Jill, Doug and Craig were all racked together. They were a little late with the start. I really did not mind that because it gave the sun a chance to come up. Got into the water because it was warmer and waited to go.
