Run
Comments: I went out too fast... I wanted to run a 5:45/5:50 mile 1 but ran a 5:36. I forgot my HR monitor strap and although I felt relaxed, I'm sure I was going too hard too early. hit mile 2 and 3 pretty much where I wanted to but I had the beginnings of a side stitch at about mile 2 and I couldn't open up like I planned on mile's 4 through 6. I just sort of "hung on". By mile 4 it was full blown and I was trying to make guttural exhaling noises to try to make it go away. I'm sure people thought I was nuts. Even with the side stitch, my running felt good and pretty much effortless. I just couldn't run as fast as I wanted to. I'm happy that I ran with the pain. I knew that 10k is sort of a short race and that I've run with side stitch pain before. I only wished it would have went away for the last 2 miles. Oh well. overall a B+ effort What would you do differently?: I might have had too much Gatorade prior to the start... also, I wish I started more slowly and I wish I had my HR strap to monitor my effort. Post race
Warm down: Hung out and had a few beers with BTers and watched the women's and men's elite race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Side stitch, mostly Event comments: Awesome race... I don't know how they pull off such an organized 50k person race. Amazing. Last updated: 2007-05-21 12:00 AM

Got up early, showered and had some soy yogurt a banana, toast and some coffee. Drove to meet our friend at the Park&Ride and drove to Boulder. Got a sweet parking spot, hit the port-a-potty (no lines!) and did a few strides then dropped my bag off at the FedEx trucks. Saw Adam on the way there and said hello then jogged to my wave. Got there with about 4 minutes to the start and saw Mike (ridgerunner) and chatted before the start.
