Swim
Comments: Swam very consistent, but slower than what I expected. Felt like I was in a good rythym. Took tight corners at the bouys. Had a difficult time keeping a very straight line. Need to work on keeping an eye on the bouys more often, so I don't swim off course. What would you do differently?: Look every 10 strokes or so to make sure I am aiming right for bouy. Need to push myself harder next time. I think I could have taken another 2 minutes off the swim. Need to spend more time in pool training. But overall had a good swim. Transition 1
Comments: Went well. I had trouble getting my wetsuit off, which was not normal. I think I need to use pam instead of body glide on the legs. Transition could have been 10-15 seconds faster. What would you do differently?: Use Pam. Bike
Comments: Bike went well. I was hoping for an average of 20m per hour, but had to settle for 19.7 which was ok. I had trouble keeping a consitent cadence for some reason. I think my legs were tired. Also notice my hip flexors were really tight. Need to stretch more. Overall bike was pretty good. What would you do differently?: Train more. But first race of season. I was happy Transition 2
Comments: Had a great transition, everything went smooth. Run
Comments: Had a good first 5k, but then my legs just got really heavy the second 5K and I had a couple 10 minute plus miles, which was terrible. What would you do differently?: Train more, would like to get my run time during triathlons down to 8:15 to 8:30's Post race
Warm down: Enjoyed my friends and fellowship and ate and drank a lot, spent the rest of the day at the beach and dinner with Grandfather. Overall a great day. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of quality training. Not enough time in the saddle. Event comments: Overall had a great time and enjoy the venure. Was well organized and a lot of volunteers. Got to run into old friends which is always a plus. Plus I had the best fan club in the world. 5 friends drove over to support me and hang out. What a day. Slept Great. Had all gear packed the night before. Stayed 10 minutes away from race, so there was no rush in getting there. Woke up at about 5:15.
At Bagel and peanut butter, had a banana and 1/2 cup of coffee and consume alot of water. On way to transition area drank 1/2 of a gatorade.
Layed out everything at transition. Clipped my cycling shoes in pedals and checked the air on my bike tire.
Ran 10 minutes with Doug to warm up. Then went back to transition to put on wetsuit and start the very long walk (3/4) mile to transition start. Thankfully someone warned me and I brought flips to walk in that I was able to hand off to some friends.
