Pre-race routine:

Forgot things at the car, and didn't have time to go get stuff and bring it back to tranistion, so I set up a little pre-transition station at my truck.
Swim
  • 44m 17s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

I wasn't last coming out of the swim!!! The girl who I beat was actually a very good swimmer - just way worse at sighting than I am. I beat her doing 98% breast-stroke! (I wish there was a breast stroke only race! I have such a powerful frog kick from all that cave diving!) Anyways, I took at least 5 min off my swim time last time I did this course. And last time was in a wetsuit!
What would you do differently?:

At my pace doing breaststroke, I'm confident I could swim 5-10 miles, but it might serve me better to really perfect the crawl.
Transition 1
  • 06m 41s
Comments:

Transition includes a long, long run from the lake and a stop at the mini-transition at my car. My real T1 time was 2:27.
What would you do differently?:

Um...remember everything. Get there a little earlier. Know the course better and not stash my shoes out of the way. A GOOD thing from all the marathon training, is that I felt up to running after the swim :-) This is a first for me!!
Bike
  • 1h 47m 47s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 13.83 mile/hr
Comments:

2 minutes longer than last time. :-(

The bike was not a good. I will never let so much time go by without biking again. I was really feeling sucky & slow and miserably sorry for myself. Until I remembered the folks who have it so much worse. Its OK to be DFL . . . I'm not in a wheelchair, I have both legs, I'm not struggling with chest tubes & cancer. I'm really very blessed and living a charmed adulthood. Everyone should have it so good.

At that point, I chilled and just enjoyed a somewhat leisurely pace until I was done. I'm so glad I chose my attitude today instead of letting the day dictate one to me.
What would you do differently?:

I gotta get my cleat position fixed. My right foot was killing me. And I'm still not sure about this new saddle. I think I may need a fitting overhaul.
Post race
Warm down:

Overall race time was 7 minutes faster than March's Wildman. Played the monkey with the bannana table. Met a rollins alum who lives near me.

As I was driving away from the park, saw 2 cute little deer frolicking!

Event comments:

I really like events here! I hope to SOMEday do the whole Oly here.
