Swim
Comments: Started in middle near the front. A little congestion early but not too bad. No real problems around 1st buoy, better around 2nd. Never really got into a good, consistent rythym but was never way out of whack either. What would you do differently?: Breathing was OK but could be better. I have to remember to use a nose clip. About 6-8 hours after an OWS I start to get congested. About 10-12 hours after OWS my sinuses are completed blocked. Sleeping the noght after a race is very difficult. Transition 1
Comments: Better at getting out of wetsuit than last year. !st time using biking shoes and had practiced leaving shoes clipped in. Practice paid off, no real problems running barefoot and starting bike on top of shoes and getting feet into shoes and strapped in. I was committed to trying this for this tri and it went fairly well. What would you do differently?: DON'T LOSE GOGGLES. Somehow after race my goggles were missing. I have a picture of me getting out of water, I have them in my hand (a mistake as I think about it, should slide them down neck.) I know I used 2 hands to get top of wetsuit off, no idea what I did with my goggles. Bike
Comments: I wanted to use a higher cadence, last year I mashed. My cadence ws not registering on my computer. Must have been due to all the rain on the way to the race, it worked OK afterwards. I did stay in middle front cog and used a higher cadence than in the past but would have been nice to know exactly how I was doing. What would you do differently?: Need to find a better combination of gears/cadence. Bike time was down from last year but legs did feel better on run, and run results verified this. I need to use the higher cadence but utilize lower gears at opportune times. Need to get over 20 mph. Transition 2
Comments: A liitle higher than last year but only a few seconds and last year did not have to switch shoes. Using elastic laces and having them set was good. No socks was new. What would you do differently?: Not much Run
Comments: Felt really strong on run and results verified. I passed quite a few and outsprinted Ed last 200 yds. Very pleased to be under 7 minute pace, higher cadence on bike must be part of it but run training is paying off. Towards the end I considered peeing on run but never did. Did not feel water logged or anything, just kind of had to go. Wore hat on run for 1st time. What would you do differently?: Not much here... Post race
Warm down: Hit bathroom, grabbed water and food. Hung out with our Rochester Tri Club group. Out of 12 at race, 7 placed, a great showing. What limited your ability to perform faster: I can do better on bike Event comments: I'll be back. Last updated: 2007-05-25 12:00 AM

Got there in plenty of time. Poured on the way over but quit just after iI arrived. Cheerios for breakfast about 5:50, granola bar and gatorade on drive to race.
Ran a little, biked a little (this is where I found my cadence was not working). Practiced one last time with bike shoes. Did some swimming warm up.
