Swim
Comments: I was the first in the wave to go and managed to stay in front of everyone the whole time. There were no lane lines or ropes, just pylons on either end of the pool to sight off of. The pool walls were white so it was hard to guage the distance to the wall. I was also in the shallow end which made pushing off the wall difficult. I swam as hard as I could and got my heart rate up, arms turning over and my kick on. Official Swim Time - 6:11 (included getting out of pool and running out of the fenced in pool area) What would you do differently?: Nothing...I gave it my all. Transition 1
Comments: Ran out onto the rough asphalt path - ouch. Fumbled with the bike shoes a little bit but was out as fast as I could go. There were two of us running with our bikes to the mounting area so we both were a bit confused trying to get on our bikes with all the volunteers yelling and trying to watch for other cyclists passing by. What would you do differently?: Get new bike shoes without the plastic clip strap that seems to take too much time to adjust? Bike
Comments: I flew! Passed lots of ladies, even some from my own wave with tri bikes. Had a little cat and mouse chase with one girl over the last lap where we passed eachother a few times but came into transition at exactly the same time. Otherwise, I didn't get passed. Whew. Drank Gatorade from the aero bottle - just enough to fuel and get ready for the run. Saw dark clouds approaching and darkening the already gray cloud cover. I thought, "oh no, not again" with flashbacks off last week and hoped that the rain would hold off until after the race. Thankfully, it did and then it only sprinkled lightly. Official Bike Time - 24:45 (included most of T1 and all of T2) What would you do differently?: Nothing...it was such a short ride that I had to go as fast as I could. Transition 2
Comments: Seemed to take too long to get my bike shoes off and running shoes on. I was fumbling a bit too much. What would you do differently?: Get the Garmine off the bike before getting into transition. It took extra time to get the velcro straps off of my bars. Run
Comments: Nice run for me! I didn't get my breathing in check until about 5 minutes in, but kept my pace up the whole time. Again, I didn't let anyone pass me. I had some rabbits from my own wave to chase and managed to reel a few of them in. What would you do differently?: Nothing...it was a good hard run. Post race
Warm down: Walked the bike to the car. Ate half a banana. What limited your ability to perform faster: Twenty pounds of me. :( Event comments: Good race for a good cause! Official Results Last updated: 2007-05-25 12:00 AM

Had a bowl of otameal at 730 with a banana and then drove to the race. The racks in transition were full by the time I got there but everyone had racked their bikes on one side only. I was a rebel and found a spot on the other side of a rack and got myself set up. I then wasted time by laying in the grass and possibly even nodding off a bit.

Ran for 5 minutes before the pre-race meeting. Jumped into the pool before the first wave for a couple of laps which was a mistake because I had to wait another twenty minutes out of the pool before my wave. The pool water was warm but the breeze and overcast conditions were not once I was already wet.
