Comments:

REALLY good swim for me. I didn't expect it to be so physical. I started front and wide. Somehow I got caught in all the traffic and ended up getting just pissed off, instead of waiting for them to move like I normally do, I took the initative and just kept swimming, it was like sardines in a can at times, and I was hitting this chick on the head with my hand. I took the crowd well, usually I don't. I just kept swimming and didn't stop to breaststroke unless I was in danger of getting kicked in the face by another breastroker which was a couple of times. I actually yelled at someone to "MOVE!!" once at the last buoy. oh man am I turning into a BITCH??
What would you do differently?:

nothing. I didn't realize till that evening I was FIRST in my division in the swim by a good 1:38!!!

Comments:

this was a LONG run to T.. all Sand Key tris usually are. It was about 400 yards- picture running one lap on a track after swimming! I got a bad cramp just below my ribs- and it's still sore today (Monday). Think I got kicked and didn't realize it.
What would you do differently?:

run faster.

Comments:

right out of the park we are faced with a bridge!! I stood up in the saddle teh whole way up- a first for me. The girl in front of me was doing the same, so had sort of a pacer. Watched someone puke over the side. It was hard and my legs started burning immediately. Then down, WHEE!!! and turn right after... over a road to the Causeway Bridge, up the hard side again... down again WHEEEEE . riding around Clearwater I don't know where I am, just follow these guys. Uh oh a sulfur truck is wrecked up ahead. Rider on the side, standing up being attended to. That's all I saw. Turned onto the next bridge. oh lord.... hit the apex finally and WHEEEEE whoo I was going so fast I was skeered!! Dont hit the brakes dont hit the brakes..... and then the straight shot back to the park was nice, fast and flat!! I felt really good about this bike except for the bridges.
and... I was looking at my bike computer after the race. MAXSPD 70.7 mpm/hr. WTF?? Is that even right?? I was too skared to even look at it at the time- I know I saw 31 on one of the bridges going down, but 70?? Is that even possible??!!
What would you do differently?:

Find a hill like thing to train on.

  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

oh man I just fell apart here. First mile on soft sugar sand just so popular on our beaches here. Are you kidding me??!! Then second mile on semi hard sand on the park trails, out around some awful smelly thing. Then finally on a nice road!! Around the parking lot and around someting else, then to the finish line. Saw tbctbc a few times!!
What would you do differently?:

run faster. lose about 30 pounds.
Post race
Warm down:

got the nice cold wet towel that is the trademark of the Baycare races! Went to get some food, took one bite, and threw up. Couldn't eat anythign else after that so Tom and the boys ate what I would've ate anyways and there was plenty left over, so.... Christian ate my name off the cake.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fat Ass.

Event comments:

no Pizxa???
bike course was a bit dicey in some parts... narrow road due to construction and cars were not being courteous. course hazards were well marked though. Cops out to support at intersections. Beautiful day for a bike ride!!
