Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 10/38
Pre-race routine:

had a tea and a red bull on the way down as well as listened to some good 80's in the car
Event warmup:

ran short bursts to the bathroom :-)
Swim
  • 10m 33s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 13s / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 03m 45s
Comments:

I need to learn how to put my shoes on and ride at the same time don't know if that will ever happen, I am way too clumsy! The run up the hill sucked ass and I had to get some oxygenated blood back into my muscles during this long transition time!
What would you do differently?:

practice transitioning
Bike
  • 39m 47s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 20.62 mile/hr
Comments:

Fast on the way back in, I can fly on the flats with my areo bars on, I even passed someone who had all the pro gear on- not sure if he was actually pro though!
Transition 2
  • 02m
Comments:

Again I use transitions to catch my breath a bit, but I need to get faster at them
What would you do differently?:

take the shoes off while on the bike maybe? Practice!
Run
  • 27m 26s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Am I really getting faster??????????? I am super excited about this time and the most exciting thing about it is that if I hadn't messed with the garmin aso much I could have been even faster than this!
What would you do differently?:

Just turn the garmin on and try to stay within a certain min/mile pace, not tried to turn on the training assistant
Post race
Warm down:

nothing

Event comments:

They gave away a 5,000$ bike- how can you get better shwag than that!

Performance: Good
Suit: wetsuit
Course: I think they mismeasured this one, I am confident that I am a good swimmer, but not that good! I got smacked in the head and one of my goggles came off enough to get water in it, I just kept going, it wasn't terrible. I had a few guys try and cut me off around the corner, one of them ended up going out too far, I kept my eye on the next buoy and stayed as close as I could
