Swim
Comments: Very full at the beginning, then thinned out after a few hundred meetings. Lots of swimmers from later waves passed me. What would you do differently?: Swim harder. I had plenty of wind and plenty of energy at the end. Transition 1
Comments: I fell off my bike trying to get on - crashed into a few spectators. No injuries, just looked foolish. What would you do differently?: Find a way to get socks and shoes on more quickly. Wear shirt in the swim - it was very hard to get the under armour shirt on while wet. Bike
Comments: Great ride on the mountain bike. PR for this distance. I had several other riders compliment me on my pace on a mountain bike. What would you do differently?: Get a road bike! Transition 2
Comments: It was hard to get moving after getting off the bike. It took me a few minutes until I felt comfortable. Run
Comments: I didn't really feel tired, but I couldn't go any faster. That is a strange phenomenon. The course was confusing with 2 laps around, and a portion of a third through the streets downtown. What would you do differently?: More run training. I would like to have 7:30 pace or so - finish time of around 46:30. Post race
Warm down: Lots of gatorade, water, 2 bananas, an ice cream bar, etc. Lots of good food at the finish. Also just walked around for a while. What limited your ability to perform faster: 1. Form training in the swim. 2. Better run endurance. 3. Smoother transitions. 4. More experience in triathlons. Event comments: Great experience in my first attempt at a triathlon. I look forward to trying to improve in future efforts. Last updated: 2007-06-01 12:00 AM
