Swim
Comments: Start wasn't the greatest but did get settled into a rythym before too long. Did not get fatigued. Left leg started to cramp about 3/4 of the way thru but it went away. Transition 1
Comments: Big TA. A little trouble with left leg on wetsuit. I used my little chair from Chaska. What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: Did not get into shoes until past the little hill at start of bike, although it wasn't a problem. Cadence worked on bike computer. Used both middle and large cogs on front, did a better job of utilizing gears than at Albert Lea. For 1st Oly paced myself well. Improved from Al. What would you do differently?: Could push a little harder on bike and still be OK for run. Would like to get bike into low 20s mph and still keep legs for run. Transition 2
Comments: Had to go down the little hill to dismount, got 1 shoe off at top of hill, the other at bottom of hill. Had to to navigate wet hill in TA but went OK. Used towel to wipe feet. Stupid number strap came unhooked when running down shute but was able to fix it on the fly. Chair again came in handy. What would you do differently?: Not much Run
Comments: Wasn't sure which shoes I was going to wear, went with the Brooks. Wore metatarsal pad on left foot, nothing on right. Left felt funny with the pad. Probably could have done without. Feet held up OK. Seemed to get into a good rythym fairly fast. Good pace after cemetery turnaround and the return downhill. Picked it up on last 2 miles. Pleased with run time. Post race
Warm down: Walked around looking for Barb & Madison. Was a little chilled right away. Weather switched from warm to rain to cool. Ended up wearing rain gear. Neep to remember to irrigate nose and take antihistamine at least after race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Swim time was about what I expected at longer distance. Would be good to pick up some time there. Event comments: Good well run race for so many participants. Weather hurt post race. Last updated: 2007-06-03 12:00 AM

For the first time drove to race site the night before and stayed in hotel. Brought our Golden Retriver, Madison, along. Cheerios at 6:00, banana. Arrived at TA about 7am. TA by race and age group. Got a good spot. Defintely nice not to have to drive about 2 hours to race on the morning of the race.
Did some bike and run warmups, drank some gatorade. Had a gel about 30 minutes before wave start time. Swim warmup.
