Pre-race routine:

Normal pre race breakfast of bagel and PB. Got to tranistion early did a quick bike check and then headed to the water

Started slow and easy and walked in pretty much last to start in the back.

In a race this small lileky should have started in the middle of the pack more to gain some drafting.

first 2 miles hurt like crazy but manged to settle in. Although my pace is slow this run was about 25 minutes than my last HIM. I did not really run any faster but the key this yuear was I never slowed down.

Unfortunately the bike course alone would make this course a race I would not want to do again. The road conditions were poor pretty much everywhere and horrid in some spots. An aid station right at a left hand turn to a busy intersection was poor placement as well. And last but not least, how on earth can you have a HIM distance race without one single port-o-john within the confines of the course??
