Pre-race routine:

BBQ night before, home later than desired. Not much to eat, maccaroni salad etc. lots of water. Bed at 11pm, slept poorly. Up at 4am. Coffee, PB WW bagel and water. 45 min drive.
Event warmup:

Transition organization. No warmup. Too late. Drank some accelerade.
Swim
  • 16m 20s
  • 750 meters
  • 02m 11s / 100 meters
Comments:

No WU was tough. First time in wetsuit. Some adjusting but OK. Group was very spread out and had trouble finding any drafting guys. Too fast start for me and never relaxed.
What would you do differently?:

More swim training.
Transition 1
  • 01m 58s
Comments:

A bit winded from swim. Need work on T1.
What would you do differently?:

Practice T1
Bike
  • 1h 01m 31s
  • 18 miles
  • 17.56 mile/hr
Comments:

Hilly, started too hard. Never recovered from swim properly and chased two females ( who took 1st and 2nd.) up hills. Not smart.
What would you do differently?:

Train with TT bike on hills and change rear cassette to 25
Transition 2
  • 01m
Comments:

better transition than T1.
What would you do differently?:

keep practicing
Run
  • 29m 19s
  • 3.3 miles
  • 08m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

POOR run. Spent too much earlier and paid for it. Stuck in "low gear" but able to come in and keep good form.
What would you do differently?:

Better pacing strategy. Use HR monitor next time.
Post race
Warm down:

light jog.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just a bad day for me all around but a good learning experience. This was a last minute decision and a good kick in the butt for Philly OLY.

Event comments:

As you can tell I'm a bit disappointed. A very well run event and nice course but definitely a challenge. First race with wetsuit and new TT bike. I really concentrated on wetsuit and getting used to the bike. Learned a great deal about the importance of pacing and recovery. I'll never chase elite women again....tri chicks can really put a hurtin' on you!!!
