Swim
Comments: good swim, I started on the inside and didn't really find anyone to draft off of, nearly missed a buoy but I caught myself before I went too far off course, didn't get into to much traffic anywhere, slight current on the way in What would you do differently?: push harder on the swim, I kept it pretty comfortable but I think I can go faster Transition 1
Comments: just a little run from water to transition area, I always have trouble getting my suit off my heels so I just sat down, pulled it off and put on my socks and bike shoes while I was down there What would you do differently?: I'm always slow in T1, need to get my wetsuit off faster Bike
Comments: this was a fun bike course for me, the hills were challenging but I thought I did pretty well, I got into a groove on the way back and was only slowed by the one steep hill What would you do differently?: drink more, train on more hills Transition 2
Comments: I got a bad cramp in my left leg as I was unclipping, luckily it didn[t last too long, racked bike, switched shoes and grabbed race belt and hat, fairly efficient for me Run
Comments: started the run with minor cramp in my left leg, it seemed to come and go, overall the run was uneventful except for everyone passing me, I was going a steady pace, but couldn't push harder, started getting pretty warm on the way back What would you do differently?: hire someone faster to run for me :), either that or get younger legs that don't have knee problems Post race
Warm down: gatorade and a banana, Sharon, wo drove me to the race, passed me with ~300yds to go so it was easy to find her after the race, she had a tough swim (her first tri), but recovered nicely on the bike and run, we talked to a few poeple, had some post race food, packed up and headed home What limited your ability to perform faster: I probably performed about as well as I could, my running is just slow and my knees are cranky Event comments: This was a great race. Very good organization and lots of super volunteers. The course was scenic and fun. :) Last updated: 2007-06-07 12:00 AM

borken down Jeep on Friday, I scambled to find a ride up to the race leaving Sat, found a friend of a friend who drove me up to the race, we went to packet pick up and drove the bike course, race morning I was up at 4:30, oatmeal bar and coffee, left for race at 5:15am, got parked and set up in transition
5 min swim in bay, felt much warmer than the stated 78 degrees, no jellyfish this year :)
