Comments:

I took off my wetsuit right when I got out of the water. The good part is that it slid off much easier. The bad part is that I got sand all over it while I was taking it off, so I was covered in sand from carrying it into transition.
What would you do differently?:

I would wait to take off my wetsuit in transition area so I don't end up with sand all over me again.
Transition 1
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

Third fastest T1 time out of all women. I guess taking off my wetsuit before entering transition helped here.
What would you do differently?:

I would take off wetsuit in transition area only because of the sand...even though it was easier to slide off right out of the water. I would also attach my sunglasses to my bike and put them on once I'm on the course. This could save a couple of seconds.

Comments:

I hate running on trails like this. I don't have strong ankles, so I'm always cautious trying not to twist my ankle or trip over tree roots. Having the run and bike split like this had it's good points and bad. The good part was that I felt like I could run harder knowing I only had to run 1.55 miles during that leg. The hard part was entering into transition after the first run leg thinking, "Holy shit, I have to do this all over again???!!!" Especially knowing the hilly bike course I just did. Ugh! But I gave it my all during the last run leg knowing it was almost over and I only had to suffer for 1.55 more miles. The good news is that I was that much happier when it was over. :)
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on running at a faster cadence.

Event comments:

I did not like this course was split. It caused too much confusion. The run course was not clearly marked and not enough volunteers to direct people. Some people cut the course early because they didn't take the correct turn. Will not do this race again. But all that being said, I still had fun and was happy with a gold medal in my age group. :)

Swimming

Age Group: 1/11
Overall: 5/78
Performance: Good
Suit: Orca Apex
Course: Lake course with a very long up hill run to the transition area. So, the swim time is actually the time in water plus the long run up to T1. I think this run into transition added another mile onto the course! I was exhausted when I got to my bike!

Course: This was a split course. Meaning after the swim, you bike 6.4 miles, then run 1.55 miles, then bike 6.4 miles, then run 1.55 miles. Weird, I know. So I totalled my 2 bike times together for my total. The course was extremely hilly. It was an out and back rolling course. Very challenging up hill during the last mile before transition.
