Run
Comments: Started in the middle with Becca. I got caught up a little at the beginning, but it thinned out pretty quickly. Mile 1: 7:15. This was a fast mile for me and I was a little worried about my pacing, but figured oh, well, go fast and try to hold on. Get to the turn around and see Becca on my way back in. She looked strong and was still running. Mile 2: 14:30 (7:15), wow another 7:15 mile. My goal was to finish under 24 minutes and cross off one of my season goals of finishing a race with mile splits under 8 minutes/mile. Come to the finish like at 22:45 and can't believe it. Great race for me. This was my first race ever last year and I ran 32:50, so I cut that by 10minutes. What would you do differently?: Start a little farther up, but didn't want Becca to start by herself. Post race
Warm down: After I finished I ran back up the course to find and finish with Becca. I caught up to her at the last turn and she was still running. Had to push her a little, as her ankle was hurting a little. She finished strong at 32:40, which beats my time from last year. She said he time at mile 2 was 19 something. So she was under 10 minutes/mile for the first 2 miles, which is her goal for the year to run 10 minute miles for a race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Maybe the start a little, but not too much, may have helped me by not letting me go out as fast. Event comments: I'm biased as this is my hometown race and is part of the town's festival, but this race grows every year and there are quite a few fast people. Very competitive race. As well as a good race for a first timer as there are slower runners and walkers too. Last updated: 2007-06-11 12:00 AM

Got up early as usual. Ate Clif Bar. Went and signed Becca(daughter(9)) up and got our t-shirts. This is our home town race, so I went back home and picked up wife and kids.
Becca and I ran around the block a few times, stretched, and ran a few pickups. This was her first race to run "by herself."
