Swim
Comments: My results aren't posted yet...swam into people a couple times, I'm slow to pass them, had a good sense of my pace and pushed myself a little more. Water temp felt perfect. What would you do differently?: I'll avoid talking to Amy. I'll look up less. Try to focus harder on good technique and getting around people better. Don't start at the very back but next to very back so I can be inspired to go a bit faster because I think I'm ready for that push and so I don't have to go around swimmers. Transition 1
Comments: Didn't feel inspired to move fast and wasted time. Not having my shorts laid out cost time, I had to crawl under rack to my duffel bag. Don't put helmet on before my shirt and don't pin shirt through both layers, so that means arrive early enough to do things properly. Kept bathing suit on, added bike shorts, added tshirt, socks, running shoes, helmet, grabbed bar. What would you do differently?: Focus and practice beforehand, know what goes in what order. Lay things out better. Bike
Comments: Felt very strong the entire time, quads tired only on two hills. What would you do differently?: Push myself hard next time, I think I have more reserves than I used. Amy and I were quite casual and were told not to bike beside each other for too long. So next time I'll focus better, stay to right and focus and moving forward. i could have used downhills better to prepare for the uphill but my bike didn't have very hard gears. Use a camelback, cause I nearly stop riding while trying to get my water bottle out. Also carry food on bike somewhere and not in shorts so it's easy to grab. Transition 2
Comments: Slow not focused but bike in running shoes so I didn't need to change shoes. Just took off my bike shorts and put on running shorts. Added sunscreen : ) What would you do differently?: Focus and be quicker. Run
Comments: OK, the first two minutes were so depressing, discouraging, tiring and draining. I wanted to walk so badly but Amy didn't let me (thank goodness) because eventually that feeling passed. I suffered cardiowise for the first half. Paid careful attention to my knees and hips but hips only hurt at 6km and knees were AWESOME!!!! My right foot insole caused a huge blister and a lot of pain but wasn't bad enough to cause me to stop. Dumped an electrolyte drink all over my head/hair thinking it was water. I walked at every water station and tried to adjust my insole a couple times. What would you do differently?: Practice bricks before hand. Post race
Warm down: oops not much, some stretching while eating watermelon. What limited your ability to perform faster: Fear of over-doing it. Not enough training in the month leading up to it. Event comments: Next time don't show up late and wait 20 minutes in the wrong line and don't forget to get numbers drawn on you and don't forget to get a chip. Test out your pumping tire skills beforehand because the tire nozzle kept bursting off front tire... my pump or I wasn't strong enough to fully pump back tire, got help from a bike person. I forgot to lay out my bike shorts for the first transition cause of the rush. No time to warm up. Last updated: 2007-06-11 12:00 AM

I ate oatmeal with rice milk, raisins and flaxseed (3hour before), half banana (1hour before), lots of water day before and rice and noodles.
No time, just enough time to dip myself in the water and test my goggles.
