Swim
Comments: I started 4th in my lane (out of 5). I ended up passing one guy during the start of my second lap and passed a woman half way through the second lap. I was second out of the water in my heat - behind my husband. I remember looking up at the clock and seeing 7:18 and was stoked! What would you do differently?: Swim LOTS more. Transition 1
Comments: I didn't get a split time for my transitions. I walked to my bike, though, to catch my breath from the swim. I felt my transition was pretty fast once I got to my bike, put my socks, shoes, sunglasses, and helmet on. As I was riding out, I heard my daughter yell, "Go Mommy!" I got a huge lump in my throat. :) What would you do differently?: Run to my bike and run with my bike to the mounting area. Bike
Comments: I wish I could have picked it up on the bike. I was getting passed and it was very discouraging. I feel like I lost a lot of time the second lap going up that hill. What would you do differently?: Ride LOTS more to prepare for my next tri. Try a different sports drink. The Gatorade was too sweet and left me with cotton mouth. Transition 2
Comments: This was a quick transition. I got some water before the run. The Gatorade left me with cotton mouth and I had to get that sweet taste out. Run
Comments: I walked a little of the run. My legs were jello from the bike. What would you do differently?: Run LOTS more. Post race
Warm down: Bottle of water, stretched, then had some fruit, and a bagel w/ cream cheese. What limited your ability to perform faster: Legs were tired from the bike. I wasn't too winded, my legs were just burning. I need more conditioning to work on endurance. Event comments: I had a great first triathlon experience. I am so glad my girlfriend turned me on to this sport. I loved racing! This race was in my hometown, so it was close and I knew a lot of people. It was very well organized, however, my heat started a little later than scheduled and the awards started kind of late. It was really great to be able to get in free to the water park (where we finished the race) - my daughter had a blast swimming while we relaxed by the pool. Many people asked why we were marked up and congratulated us when we told them why. I feel more confident in the swim - even though I'm still no expert, I know I can do it as long as I take the time to train. My goal for the next 5 weeks before the Danskin tri, is to ride more, run more, swim more, and get a few open water swims under my belt. I'm ready!!!! Last updated: 2007-06-12 12:00 AM

Egg and cheese breakfast burrito, lots of water. An hour before race, ate a bag of Sport Beans. It was a laid back morning. The race started at 8am, but my heat didn't start until 10:10. We took our time eating breakfast and we watched people swim.
Stretched out a lot, chatted with the people in my heat.
