Pre-race routine:

I am a single Dad with a six and seven year old. I got up at the crack of dawn and struggled to get them ready until we picked up my girlfriend. She rocks!

Comments:

The waves were pretty big and there were only a men's and women's start. This was a lot of people in the water at the same time. I actually stopped for at least a minute to help a woman in trouble until the lifeguard in the kyak figured out she was in trouble. I was pretty happy with my time considering the conditions.
What would you do differently?:

Let the lady drown??? Naah..

A long uphill distance to the transition area from the beach. I took it slow on purpose to get my head on right for the bike.

The bike was flat and fast. I was actually able to hang with a co-worker of mine doing an IM next month, so I felt pretty good.

I got hot and I am fat. This is my weakness. I need to lose another twenty pounds. Hopefully by next year I will. A lot of people I smoked in the swim and passed on the bike passed me on the run, Oh well...

Not be fat????

I liked the race and since it is so close to home, I will be a regular. I think more water on the run would have helped, but the people vounteering were awesome!!
