Comments: I still have a ton of problems breathing when I first start OWS's. I don't know if it's the lack of OWS training, the anxiety of a mass start or the water temperature doing something to my lungs. What would you do differently?: Swim more? ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Like always, I take my time here just to let the HR get back down a little bit. I didn't realize, however, that I took this long. What would you do differently?: Rack bike in grass instead of the gravel ![]() Bike
Comments: Whether it was the twelve pack of beer the night before or the 4 mile race on Wednesday, my legs were in no mood for these hills. When the President of the tri club (and 3rd place finisher of this race) calls this the hardest ride around, you know you're in trouble! What would you do differently?: No racing three days before this race (or any other one for that matter) and no drinking the night before! ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I tried the one foot on the pedal up to the dismount area and pulled it off like a pro! Again, took my time to catch my breath and legs before the run. What would you do differently?: Stay in a standing position. Once I sat down to change my shoes, I did not want to get up. ![]() Run
Comments: I heard that we didn't end up doing the entire 5k. They had the "turn around" sign in the wrong position. Unfortunately for everyone who raced, it was a quarter of a mile or so SHORT of the water station. Needless to say, some of us were not happy. What would you do differently?: Gotta keep working on the running. This seems to be my weakest discipline. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Drank a couple bottles of water and some Endurox, walked around in a fog and laid flat on my back until the pounding in my ears went away. What limited your ability to perform faster: Sore legs? A hangover? Need of more training? Event comments: On the plus side, it started almost on time, there were plenty of volunteers and the scenery was breathtaking. On the other hand, I wish they would have gotten together on the turn around so that we could get some much needed water and they could've had a little bit more in the way of post race festivities. Woke up on time, left the house with plenty of time to spare and got a speeding ticket going through Poland doing 51 mph in a 25 mph zone. I was all that mad until SHE told me that she originally clocked me at 41 mph in the 35 mph zone. Well princess, why didn't you stop me then instead of following me into the slower of the two zones.
Nothing gets your HR going like seeing flashing lights in your rearview mirror.
