Swim
Comments: Very crowded and slow start. My wetsuit came unzipped after the first 100 yds or so and the suit filled with water. I'm not sure if it broke loose from the top or not. Since there wasn't much I could do about it I just swam with an open suit. I figure I lost at least a minute. The encouraging news is that despite this problem I had a decent swim time. What would you do differently?: Don't start in the middle of the pack. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Need to learn how to put riding shoes on while riding instead of transition. Also don't bother with the Garmin on a sprint course. It takes time to put it on and doesn't add much value. Bike
Comments: I probably pasted 50 people on the way out and felt like a hero. Not so on the way back. It seems like you can hear those disk wheels coming up on you from a mile a way. Transition 2
Comments: No problems, just a little slower than I'd like. Run
Comments: 24:23 might not sound that fast but this was a breakthrough run for me. Running sub 8's was my goal and I did it! Previous multisport 5K's have all been plus 27 minutes. This is where I've made the most improvement by far. What would you do differently?: Take a drink at the Aid Station. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Wetsuit opening up on the swim. Event comments: Great to have Julia, Alex and Max with me for the post race. Congrats to Rachel on the win. I'll definately want to do this one again next year. Last updated: 2007-06-16 12:00 AM
