Swim
Comments: They chart this to be a half mile swim. There's no way. It's quite a bit longer. By the time I'd estimate it at 1000 yds +. A good swim.. pretty mossy off the start. They also only have one buoy - which you can't see very well (white). That makes for some entertainment coming back. Slower swimmers are all over the place and there's quite a few head on collisions. Transition 1
Comments: Pretty good... but still a little slow with the socks. Bike
Comments: Traffic control was TERRIBLE. Pride Days seems to be a "big" event for Blackfoot. They did NOTHING to stop traffic (cars or foot w/strollers!) from getting on the path out of and back to transition areas. Transition 2
Comments: Decent transition. What would you do differently?: I forgot to drink something! A quick swig would've helped me a lot about 10 minutes later! Run
Comments: Tired. Still had to walk. This is definitely a crappy part of my race. I really need to get stamina so I don't have to take those walking spurts. I'm tired of getting passed. Also my foot was still pretty sore so that's not helping - especially with the training (dislocated cuboid two weeks ago). Post race
Event comments: an okay local small town race but not good compared to other triathlons. They absolutely need better transition area and traffic control getting into and out of transition. Plus they need to change the swim to a triangle - two buoys - to avoid the head on collisions. Results were still screwed up, too. Race NUMBERS would help and then tear off the tag when runner finishes rather than rely on racer to yell out their number. I finished two minutes before another gal (and watched her finish) yet they had me behind her (her race number was one away from mine). Still... a good workout for a Saturday morning in Idaho.
