Swim
Comments: again, i freaked out a little in the water. i went in feeling strong, decided to not care about people in my way, but then i felt like i couldn't breathe. i had to calm myself down, and swim away from the others a bit. once i was about 5 minutes in, i felt really good. i finally had down my rhythm, but then the swim ended. What would you do differently?: just do this more. do more races. Transition 1
Comments: this time includes run up huge, steep hill barefoot. also, i was disoriented, so i ran in, ran to the wrong area for my bike, realized it and had to turn around. oops. What would you do differently?: again, practice more. orient myself before hand. Bike
Comments: so, i get on the bike, ride down this hill and realize my brakes aren't working at all! scarey to say the least. luckily, i realized this right away. i had not attatched my tire correctly. i hopped off the bike right away and fixed it. right away into the ride my legs started to hurt,...maybe from running 10 on thursday or spin on friday. but, overall, this pace felt good. i felt strong. i didn't mind the hills. it was tough, but i was pushing myself as hard as i could. i definitely felt i raced it...which i guess is pathetic though because i have a slow time. i like to make myself feel better and tell myself if i had a road bike or tri bike, maybe i'd be faster! oh, i was really thirsty too, but didn't take time to drink. wanted to take gu but forgot! What would you do differently?: fix tire before race. Transition 2
Comments: need more practice with this too. i feel like i am moving quick, but i guess not. i was so thirsty from bike ride so i spent a lot of time chugging my drink when i got back. What would you do differently?: practice, drink more on ride. Run
Comments: wow again...this was so hard for me. i don't know what was wrong with me. i meant to take a gu and forgot again, so maybe that had something to do with it. i got a cramp after mile 1 and had to stop to walk for a minute. it was piercing. i felt really really slow and like i wanted to throw up. it was super tough. What would you do differently?: take gu, drink more, practice running more. do more bricks (even though i practice that 2-3 times a week.) maybe they just need to be longer. Post race
Warm down: none really- watched friends finish after me and ate some good food. What limited your ability to perform faster: i did only get 3 hours (at best) of sleep last night. forgot gu. didn't drink enough. didn't train enough. i guess a little bit of everything. Event comments: this was an awesome race! i am inspired to do it every year. Last updated: 2007-06-17 12:00 AM
