Swim
Comments: The swim was in a lake, a very nice one at that. I really enjoy the swim, I had a good swim and did not push it, but should have swam a little harder. I love the swim with the "fighting" for a place in the water. What would you do differently?: pushed a little more, but I allready said that Transition 1
Comments: The time is a little misleading, the run up the hill and stairs to T1 is included in the actual T1 time. I took the stairs easy, but felt good coming out of the water. Got my bike and shoes and got out to ride. Bike
Comments: The course was in the mountains and I found that here in Williamsburg we have hills and I suffered on many of the climbs today. I knew it would be this way. We drove the course the day before so I had a good idea of what I was in for. It started out up hill, but the first downhill, I was at 41 MPH. I knew I had to be smart on the ride, but looking back I took it to conservative. I think I was overthinking the climbs. The last climb just before the T2 was very very steep. I was only able to go 5-6 MPH. I tried to put the elevation profile on my blog, but could not figure out how to. so if you are interested. http://www.setupevents.com/files/Luray_Int_Maps_07.pdf Also I belive the bike course was longer than 25 miles since they marked the road every 5 miles and we crossed the 25 mile mark and it was still a good little ways to the end, maybe another mile or so I got 26.5 on my bike computer What would you do differently?: Not be so worried about the climbs, I played mind games with myself and it hurt my bike time. I kmow I could have done better, but I was so worried about some of the big long climbs, i took it to easy in places I could have made time up. Transition 2
Comments: Got in got my running shoes on ans was off.... What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: The run was on rolling hills a kinda out and back course which was 3.1 miles so you had to do it twice. I did OK on the run, there was a good crowd and you saw the main crowd near the turns and got to see them twice and I had a couple of groups of people cheering GO LSU ( I had a LSU shirt on) so that was fun for me. I started to feel a cramp in my right thigh starting about 3-4 miles into the run, but I guess that is expected after the mountain ride. I drank a little bit of Cytomax, which taste like #$%^, but I guess it helped a little. What would you do differently?: Run more leading up to the race. Post race
Warm down: A little streching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not training enough. Event comments: Very well orgainized, had lots of good food and drink after the race. they had a littl band playing till they started the awards. Last updated: 2007-06-19 12:00 AM

Woke up, ate bagel and a oatmeal bar and cup of coffee. Then got in the care for about a 30 minute drive to the race.
Set up my gear and then got in the water and swam just a little before my wave was set to go.
