Drove to Qualicum Bay (2.5 hrs), checked into Motel and then drove to Bike check and package pick up.

I estimated a very conservative 500m swim time.........it was actually a 400m swim so I was far faster than my lane.....passed them all by the first length and then popped out one of the first in the heat.
What would you do differently?:

Tried barefoot cycle.........used powder but getting feet in still a bit sticky. But overall felt quick.

A good course, had radar speed guns at stratigic spots, great for an easy visual to increase your speed at each spot.
What would you do differently?:

Gotta keep on training on hill repeats.

A 2 loop run, felt a bit tight out of T2 but loosened up after first loop. Then it was a nice strong finish over the line.
What would you do differently?:

Tried barefoot........maybe go back to socks.

Warm down:

Caught my breath, had a recovery drink..........did walk around to cool down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My bikes engine needs some weight loss.

Overall a great race especially if it's your first tri, a sprint tune up or a great race for your kids.

Course: Mostly flat course with one semi steep and one longish climb. It was a 4 loop course. Used first loop just to learn the route and was able to increase speed on each lap. Spent more time in the earobars on each sucessive lap and even sprinted out of the saddle on the last climb into T2.
