Swim
Comments: Swim was comfortable...too comfortable. I could have gone another mile at this pace. What would you do differently?: Step up the effort level. Transition 1
Comments: 6/32 in Age Group What would you do differently?: Only delay was one heel stuck in wetsuit. Bike
Comments: This was definitely the hilliest course I have raced. It was to my liking. I passed a ton of people on the hills and held the places on the flats. I felt like I flew up the hills. What would you do differently?: Step up the effort 5%. Since it was my 1st Olympic I held back a little. Transition 2
Comments: 2/32 in Age Group What would you do differently?: Nothing, I'm very happy with this. Run
Comments: Course was hillier than I expected or trained for. Generally happy with this effort as I finished strong...last full mile split was 7:12. What would you do differently?: Train for hills Post race
Warm down: Walked around with wife and son. Took son to playground and hung out. Ate orange slices and bagel. What limited your ability to perform faster: Experience and time in the sport. I'm happy with this result for my 1st Olympic. Event comments: Great bike course. A little more low key feel than most events, with a very competitive field of athletes. Got up at 5:15 am. Had OJ and granola bar to eat. Rode bike 4-5 miles from hotel to race site. Got there as transition opened and got primo spot at the end of the rack. Walked all in's and out's.
It was pretty chilly, so I jogged a mile about 1.5 hours before the start, just to get warm. Later I did 1/2 mile with some pickups and swam 200 yds. immediately prior to my wave start.
