Pre-race routine:

Light breakfast Kashi Bar, Bottle of water, bathroom stop before race, keep moving
Event warmup:

Light jog/jumps & stretches & positive self-talk
Swim
  • 11m 3s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 21s / 100 yards
Comments:

Well it was my first time so I think I did pretty well for myself.
What would you do differently?:

Well I would have stay closer to the lane line so that I could see the line as I breathed to make sure I was staying on course/in a straighter line. And since I have a swimming back ground i would like to have gone out a little harder, I think I was a little confused/shocked swimming in lake and I didn't push myself in the begining.
Transition 1
  • 04m 44s
Comments:

way to slow!
What would you do differently?:

I would have grabbed my gloves and put them on after I was on the bike because my transition was 4min 44 sec. which it kind of high.
Bike
  • 44m 44s
  • 13.8 miles
  • 18.51 mile/hr
Comments:

I am buying a new bike and I think having clip in pedals will make a big difference in how efficent my RPM's are in comparission to the regular (now strap or clip in ) pedals I used for this race.
What would you do differently?:

practice shifting gears on hills because I felt kind of clueless as to what was the most productive gear for me.
Transition 2
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

Pretty decent transition but I wasted time drinking from my water bottle when there was a water station on an early part of the run.. my bad.
Run
  • 24m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

I pulled or strained something on the outside of my right foot 2 days before the race, but i didnt want to drop out. So, it was hurting really bad but then "went numb" around mile 2 and then I didn't care about the pain because i was almost finished.
What would you do differently?:

not hurt my foot :) And pick up my pace around the last mile vs the last half mile
Post race
Warm down:

drink water and walk around, light snack like half a power bar

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My sore foot and my bike

Event comments:

I loved the women's only triathlon. I mean it was my first one anyway, but I thought the spirit of all the women and the cause (for ovarian cancer) was empowering.
