Swim
Comments: started sighting every 7 strokes, quickly decided to make it every 5 b/c I was swimming WAY off course. Wound up sighting every 4 - on the way back in the sun was directly in my eyes and my goggles were completely foggy - had to take off goggles to sight. On the bright side, my next swim should be much faster. What would you do differently?: Sight every 4 or 5 strokes, take care of foggy goggle syndrome. Transition 1
Comments: First time I was aware of wanting to go get onto bike quickly - wanted to keep Mike behind me as long as I could. Did OK - more room for improvements. What would you do differently?: no socks, maybe no shirt?? Have my own water bottles that actually work so I don't have to suck the water out so much. It was hard to drink while being out of breath from the swim. Bike
Comments: AAGGGGHHHH Mike caught me right before turnaround. My goal was to get to the turnaround before he caught me. I stayed with him for the second half and actually passed a fair amount of people. Good for the confidence. :) My cadence was fast - my mantra was "keep Mike back" the whole 5 miles. It almost worked. What would you do differently?: Nothing really - I biked fast for me, took the turns fairly well and shifted pretty appropriately, I think. Oh, have my own water bottles. The one I had was HORRIBLE! Transition 2
Comments: Into T2 with Mike - laced up fought with water bottle and went. What would you do differently?: The water bottle thing really bothered me again - easy to fix, though. Run
What would you do differently?: Try to increase speed steadily as I get my breathing back under control from T2. Post race
Warm down: Ate a pretzel, drank lots of water and iced tea & high tailed it home for Katie's first b-day party. Should have stuck around for awards ceremony b/c I got one!!! So, so, so excited!!!! oatmeal & coffee at the beach before the ride down. Also, not included in the normal routine but did it today - left both water bottles on kitchen table. Won't be doing that again!!!
umm, did arm circles for 2 seconds?? ran around trying to find water.
