Swim
Comments: Not a good swim, but not bad for 1st race and 1st OWS. I was slightly concerned early on but was able to muscle through it and finish but had to do a good amount of breast stroke. What would you do differently?: Practice OWS and just keep training to work on endurance and breathing. Transition 1
Comments: Not bad T1. Tried to put socks on and was unsuccessfull so went sockless and felt fine. As a result, I did not wear shirt either. I found out how difficult it was too put clothes on while wet. What would you do differently?: Don't need socks or shirt for sprints and hustle it up a bit. Bike
Comments: Felt good during and after the ride and rode pretty well after a difficult swim. What would you do differently?: Took a minute or two to catch my breath after the swim and may have been able to push a little harder. Would like to avg. over 21 mph by the end of my first season. Transition 2
Comments: Big problem in T2 was finding my rack spot. We were assigned spots based on race # and they had them labeled on the opposite side you came in on from the bike. It felt like forever before I found my space and then the rack collapsed when I tried to rack my bike. To cap it off I had to take one of my shoes off and put it back on because it had a rock in it. What would you do differently?: Know where my rack spot is and a little better luck. Run
Comments: First mile was a little tough but overall it was an ok run. Would have liked to have been at 23:30. What would you do differently?: Need to continue brick training as well as speed work. Post race
Warm down: Saw wife and 2 kids at the finish line which was nice and waited for 3 friends of mine to come in as well. All 4 of us had a great day as this was our first Tri and we did it together. Walked around and talked for a while with friends and family. Had a pretzel and some water and then took a final dip in the Lake to cool off before heading home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Need to keep training hard and the times will continue to get better as I become more fit and experienced. Event comments: I am a TRIATHLETE!!! Very happy with results of my first race and am looking forward to the remaining races of my first season. Up next - Brigantine Island Tri on 8/4. Last updated: 2007-06-27 12:00 AM

Ate a 1/2 bagel with some peanut butter and had some gatorade and water. Also, had a 1/2 Gu pack just before start of race.
Stretching and a dip in the lake to test the water temp. and get in some light swimming. Mostly, I was just trying to relax as I was very nervous before the start of my first Triathlon.
