Run
Comments: This was my 4th time running this race - and my first time running it with now that I'm into tri's. Most running races I've run this year that I have run before - I've PR'd. Really says something about the benefits of cross-training and the demands (and advantages) of being a triathlete. I've RUN less total miles than I have before (b/c I'm swimming and biking now), but yet I'm blowing away all my run times at these races I've done before. This was a relatively good race. Weather was great - relatively cool start and no humidiy. I tried a 20oz bottle of water and perpetuem for the first time.. I knew the race length didn't call for it, but wanted to try it out in a "race" mode. before I try it on a long ride which I have coming up. I was shooting for an 8:30 pace (I wound up with 8:35) - but got a cramp, and the heat sneaked up on me a little bit, but still happy - beat my time last year by 12 minutes or about 1 min per mile faster pace. What would you do differently?: More training of course.. maybe shoot for 7:30's next year. :) Post race
Warm down: Met up with Jeff (who finished the 5k in 19:35 69th out of over 2000+) so he had a good day. Grabbed a banana and some yogurt before heading back to the car and the ferry. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramp and the bright sun starting to heat me up a little bit... Event comments: Great race. Always well organized. Pretty flat course, with a fast field.
